Whole plant: Used to treat diabetes in NW Guyana.

Wood: Wood is boiled and the water drunk as a treatment for back pain, by the Guyana Patamona. Wood is dried, cut into small pieces, boiled, and the water used as a tonic, by the Guyana Patamona.

Wood and Bark: Wood and bark are boiled and the water drunk as a treatment for impotence, by the Guyana Patamona.

Stem: Cut stem yields a refreshing, mildly diuretic liquid. Wood used as aphrodisiac in NW Guyana.

Leaf: Used for treating “desinf.” navel in NW Guyana.
