Range. Western Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Siam, Indonesia, and Java. In Myanmar, found in Bago, Magway, Mandalay, and Shan.


Bark: Used as an astringent.


Dry regions of the country, especially in Punjab, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Bark—bitter, demulcent and cooling; used in biliousness and bronchitis.

Seeds—haemagglutinating activity has been reported.

Leaves—antisyphilitic and antibacterial.
