PARTE UTILIZADA= Used part: Las flores y hojas frescas.

ACCIÓN FARMACOLÓGICA= Pharmacological action: Expectorante, antiséptico y emoliente.

POSOLOGÍA= Posology: Resfriados, catarro o tos. Poner en infusión 2 cucharadas de flores frescas con 200 cm cubicos de agua durante 10 minutos. Colar y añadir 1 cucharada de miel. Se toman 3 infusiones al día: una en ayunas, otra al mediodía y la tercera al acostarse. Esta planta es poco conocida en medicina casera, lo cual no implica que sus efectos sean menos beneficiosos que los de otros tipos de gordolobo.

COMPOSICIÓN QUÍMICA= Chemical composition: Las hojas contienen mucílago, principios amargos, resina y saponina. Las flores, aceite esencial, mucílago, saponina, colorantes amarillos (xantofila) y ácidos.

ZONA GEOGRÁFICA= Geografical zone: Caminos de Santiago.

ÚLTIMOS AVANCES EN LA QUÍMICA Y ACTIVIDADES BACTERIOLÓGICAS EN LAS PLANTAS MEDICINALES= Medicinal plants, last advances on chemistry and bacteria activities on the medicinal herbs

1) In addn. to harpagoside, the 2 iridoid glycosides pulverulentoside I (I) and pulverulentoside II (II) were isolated from the roots of V. pulverulentum.  The structures of I and II were elucidated by chem. and spectral means.
 
2) The aim of this study is to assess the environmental impact of mercury disposal to surface soils and local vegetation in the area of the former factory of Soda-PVC in Vlora (south Albania).  Phytoremediation techniques could be proposed to remediate and/or mitigate the pollution impact.  Soil samples collected in the contaminated area and at different distances from the factory in the northeast main wind direction were analyzed for Hg content and availability to plant uptake by a sequential extn. procedure in two steps.  Obtained results showed that the highest Hg concn. was in the samples closest to the factory.  Different plant species, collected in the restricted contaminated area, showed different ability to tolerate and accumulate Hg from soils.  The spontaneous plant species Tamarix dalmatica Baum and Echium italicum L. showed resp. the highest and lowest Hg content in their aerial part.
