(Guayana) (Fig. 42) Wood is used for pulp. Bark serves for colds and pneumonia; bark and leaves are used for skin infections, leaves for wounds to hasten healing. The bark is emetic and cathartic and also used for leishmaniasis. ROTH studied the bark structure 1981, fruit structure and dispersal 1987.
