Medical use
The active ingredient of the plant is the resinous substance in the secretory canals of leaf and axis. The use is similar to that of species of Senecio and of Espeletia. It is used for rheumatic pains, bronchitis and pulmonary conditions. The thick indumentum is put into the ears for ear ache.
