Gurania spinulosa (POEPP. & ENDL.) CIGN.

Is a climbing herb of the transitional cloud forest. The leaves are 3-5 lobed, each segment being of elliptic shape. The leaf anatomy has been described by ROTH (1990). A tea of the roots is employed to correct faulty menstruation. Boiled leaves are applied to scrapes and wounds.

Stem: Pieces of stem are used by the French Guiana Palikur in a decoction as a remedy to "cleanse the bile".

Root: Along the Rio Loretoyacu in Peru, a tea made from the roots is used to treat faulty menstruation
