Useful wood. The bitter seed oil is used for illumination, soapmanufacture, and as a protection against insect bites. Externally applied it cures skin problems. Internally (drop by drop) it is taken for diseases of the chest and for rheumatic pain. Bark and leaves are applied for a febrifugal and vermifugal tea. Externally applied, they are used for ulcer and skin trouble. The leaves have antidiarrhoeic properties. Fruit structure and dispersal have been studied by ROTH 1987, leaf veneation 1996.
