A decoction of the plant serves to treat haemorrhages. Bark boiled is used for stomach ache. The timber is useful. ROTH studied the bark structure 1981, leaf structure 1984, fruit structure and dispersal1987, leaf venation 1996.

Stem: Bark prepared in a decoction drunk for dysentery; bark is mixed with the stem-bark and root-bark of Erythrina fusca in a cataplasm for headache; inner bark rasped in a cold water infusion used as a wash for fevers; bark decoction for headache.
