Economical utilization
As an ornamental plant.

Medical use
Leaves and flowers are used. Flowers in decoction are used as a pectoral and sudorific. A syrup of the flowers is prepared to combat cough, chronic cacatarrh and is used as a diaphoretic. Flowers or parts of the entire plant in infusion or decoction serve as an expectorant, antispasmodic, and as a remedy against afflictions of the bronchopulmonary tract; they cure cough and influenza, are diaphoretic and are even used as an abortive.

Method of use
The syrup which is applied as a sudorific and against chronic catarrh and cough is prepared in the following way: Angelonia is mixed with violets, borage, elder and sugar in some water. Three spoonfuls are taken in the morning and at night.

Healing properties
Diaphoretic, pectoral, (abortive).

Chemical contents
The floral essence (nectar?) contains iridoid glucosides and fatty oils.
