An infusion of the stems and/or leaves is taken for indigestion. An infusion of the leaves is used as a vermifuge. The ash of the burned plant is mixed with oil and sugar and is ingested to treat indigestion (González F. 1979; González S. 1979; Linares, Penafiel, and Bye 1988; Sánchez C. 1981; Vines 1960).
