An infusion of the stems and leaves is said to be mixed with milk for infant weight gain and general ailments. The same infusion is reported to purify and increase the body's blood supply (Gonzàlez E. 1981; Gonzàlez F, 1979; Gonzàlez F. and Gonzàlez S. 1980; Gonzàlez S. 1979; Sànchez C. 1981) but note that this genus includes species which produce strong physiological reactions.
