Whole plant: Boiled in a decoction as a wash for headache; crushed and boiled plant sometimes tied onto fractures. Plant is boiled with water and used as an antipyretic or for herbal baths, by the Guyana Patamona.
Leaf: Macerated leaves are used as soap by the Guyana Patamona. Juice from macerated leaves is applied to cuts and bruises as an antiseptic by the Guyana Patamona. Macerated leaves are applied to wounds to stop bleeding, by the Guyana Patamona.
