Root: Used to treat asthma, biliousness, as laxative and to induce vomiting in NW Guyana.
Flower: Infusion is antispasmodic, locally recommended for
whooping cough.
Toxicity: Bulb: Emetic; an irritant poison.

The bulb of this species is used to make a plaster with bread or, with Eryngium foetidum, for use on swellings and sores. (2).
