Root: Employed to induce vomoiting, and to treat swelling in NW Guyana
Leaf: Heated leaves are positioned over the spleen to reduce an hypertrophied spleen, by the FG Wayapi. Leaves used for an external malaria treatment. Leaves are stripped and used to stimulate hair growth, by the Guyana Patamona. Used to treat sprains and swelling in NW Guyana.
Bulb: Grated bulb used by the FG Palikur to extract larvae of epidermal parasites by applying pulp to respiratory orifice of larva to smother it.
