Whole plant: Rubbed with salt and applied to headache; infusion is antidiarrhoeic
Tocitiy Whole plant: infusion is antidiarrhoeic and contra-indicated for pregnant women; hypotensive ((baja la presión), for fevers, eyewash, diabetes and "fluttering heart". Plant is boiled, and the water drunk as an analgesic, antimalarial, or antipyretic, by the Guyana Patamona. Used for diabetes, thrush and ground itch in NW Guyana.
Sap: Used for irritated eyes in NW Guyana.
Leaf: Juice is antiseptic, for cicatrizing wounds. Juice from macerated leavesis used as an eye drop for treating infections of the eyes, by the Guyana Patamona.
