Stem: Fragments in a decoction for an external wash to treat fatigue and lameness or lumbago. The French Guiana Wayapi use macerated stems for an insecticide against ants (Atta sp.).
The Tikuna of Colombia use the leaf for fevers and headache, while the Waorani of Ecuador use the stems and leaves for arthritis, fever and sore muscles.
