Stem: Sap used as balm for wounds and skin conditions. Resin from sap mixed with Bixa and oil of Carapa is rubbed on body as insect repellent and perfume. Resin mixed with gum of Eperua sp. used as a plaster for wounds.

Leaf: The Surinam Tirio use a decoction as a wash for fevers and general body aches and pains.
