Exudate: Used for irritated eyes in NW Guyana.

Leaf: Used for bed wetting and to treat urinary tract problems in NW Guyana.  Leaf  Toxicity: Used for a tonic and abortive decoction in French Guiana.

Flower: An infusion of the flowers steeped in hot water with silks (elongated styles) from maize (Zea mays) is used as a diuretic to treat stricture in Guyana.
