Stem: The French Guiana Palikur mix the bark in water with leaves of Elephantopus scaber and Lagenaria siceraria as a foot bath remedy for the "puwuski" mycosis and "wiuri" microfilarial worms. Bark used to treat back pain in NW Guyana.

Fruit: Nuts are used as a fish poison, by Amerindians at Kurupukari, Guyana.
