Stem: Bark squeezed in water for a preparation to stupefy wasps in Surinam. Bark used to treat abcesses, wounds and cuts, and for kidney problems in NW Guyana.
Leaf: Diuretic tea made from the leaves is used to lessen kidney and bladder discomfort. The Surinam Tirio topically apply sap from crushed leaves to treat eye problems, and use a leaf decoction to remedy fevers. In Surinam, a fallen leaf is boiled in water, and the liquid is drunk to calm a nervous heart. Used for heart and liver problems in NW Guyana.
