Stem: Tannin-rich bark is used in a decoction to reduce toothache, and mixed with species of Hymenaea and Maniklara to cure dysentery; bark macerated in water and applied onto erysipelas; bark infusion to remedy amoebic dysentery, coughs, smallpox. Bark decoction for throat disease. Yields a red, balsamic oleoresin called "baume-resine Houmouri" used for a taenicide and to treat blennorrhagia. The warmed oil is applied as a liniment on inflamed joints.
