Leaves and stems are boiled with water and used for washing the skin as a treatment for chicken pox, and a pinch of table salt added to the water, which is used as a treatment for measles, by the Guyana Patamona.
Leaf: Macerated leaves are used to remedy severe diarrhea in Guyana (Archer 2286 (US), coll. Aruka River, NorthWest District, Guyana).
