Cultivated mainly in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Action:
Root bark—diuretic, oxytocic.
Bark—emmenagogue, haemostatic.
Seed—demulcent, laxative, expectorant, abortifacient, galactagogue, nervine, anticephalalgic.
Toxicity:
Root bark—oxytocic.
Seed—abortifacient.
