Stem: Bark is boiled, and the water used as an antiseptic, by the Guyana Patamona. Decoction of inner bark used to cleanse ulcerous sores and cuts. Water from cut stem and leaves used in a cold water infusion for a wash to treat fevers by the Surinam Tirio. Wood used to stop vomiting and for diarrhea in NW Guyana.
