Stem: Grated branches drunk in an antitussive decoction by French Guiana Wayapi. Bark decocted by French Guiana Palikur with bark of Humiria balsamifera for an external emollient wash for erysipelas and swellings. French Guiana Palikur also use the bark in a disinfectant mouthwash to treat abscessed teeth. Reddish exudate used by Surinam Tirio for skin rashes, toothache, anal itch and jock itch fungus. In NW Guyana, exudate used in treatment of mouthsores, thrush and toothache.
