Stem: A compress of cut stem is made to treat hernias; a tampon of finely grated stem, which acts as a resolutive, is used for hernias by the French Guiana Wayapi.

Stem and Leaf: Decoction is retained in the mouth by the Surinam Wayana to treat bleeding gums.
