Nota de alcance (en)

Stem: Bark is chewed by the French Guiana Wayapi until finely pulverised, and inserted as a tampon (plug) in tooth cavity for a dental analgesic. Decoction of trunk-bark is used as a hot bath to soothe venereal chancres, and to remedy eruptions of pimples on the legs of children. Macerated bark mixed with wine or rum is a bitter tonic having antimalarial and antiblennorrhagic properties. The Surinam Tirio rub the peeled, crushed bark onto sores caused by leishmaniasis, and also wash in a decoction of the rasped, boiled bark as a treatment for fevers.
