Root: Pounded root is inserted into cavity of a decayed tooth to relieve toothache; decoction of root used for venereal disease. Roots are boiled, lime juice added, and drunk as an anti-malarial, by the Guyana Patamona. Root preparation used to treat fever, malaria and venereal disease in NW Guyana.
Leaf: Infusion for thrush.
Leaf and Flower: Syrup prepared for colds.
Leaf and Fruit: Leaves and fruits are boiled and the water used for“bush yaws” and sores, by the Guyana Patamona.
Fruit: Juice applied to relieve irritation of ant bites. Used for malaria and stomachache in NW Guyana.
