Origin: Meadows, brooksides, slopes, calcareous rocks, woods, and pinelands.
Uses: The rhizome has been used to treat indigestion, gout, and rheumatism; and it has also been as an antiemetic. Because of it bitter flavour, probably the most usefull, the most applicatin of this plant is as a tonic and astringant.
