COMPOSICIÖN QUÏMICA= Chemical composition: Tyramine was isolated in a 0.07-0.32% yield from the dried leaves of one species of Psittacanthus (P. cuneifolius), one of Phrygilanthus (Phr. flagellaris) and of three different species of Phoradendron (Ph. argentinum, Ph. Liga and Ph. Hieronymi), South Americans mistletoes collected in Argentina on different hosts (Acacia caven, Acacia aroma, Bougainvillea stipitata, Acnistus breviflorus and Celtis spinosa respectively). This is the first reported isolation of tyramine in Argentine Loranthaceae used pharmaceutically and in folk medicine. This amine could be responsible for hypertensive responses observed in previous pharmacological studies.
