Range. Temperate and tropical Asia; grows naturally all over Myanmar; especially reported from Kachin and Magway.

Uses

Resin: Used to treat syphilitic rheumatism.

Leaf: Remedies made from the leaves are used for fevers and respiratory problems, including coughs; they are also used to improve menstrual flow and cleanse residual menstrual discharge. Boiled leaves made into salads are eaten to promote regularity. The leaves are also used to make de-worming medicines. 

Leaf and Root: Used in preparations to stimulate circulation, as well as to treat leprosy and female disorders; also for asthma and fever. Seed: Preparations are used to treat joint inflammation related to sexually transmitted diseases.

Root: The paste mixed with ginger powder is ingested for lung infections. The root is also used as a component in medicines for male disorders, gonorrhea, asthma, bronchitis, aches, and pains.

Origin:
Cultivated as an ornamental throughout India, especially in South and Eastern India.

Action:
Root—used for asthma,cough, scrofulous affections.
Leaf—vermifuge.
Resin—antirheumatic.The plant is also used in fever,atrophy, emaciation of cachexia and consumption.
