Bark: Used in a fomentation.
Leaf: Astringent.

Action:
Fruit and leaf—astringent.
Leaf—antileucorrhoeic, spasmolytic, hypoglycaemic. A lotion prepared from the leaves is used in ophthalmia.
Root—used in excessive menstrual discharge.
