Indigenous to north-east Africa. Imported into Mumbai.

Action:
Anthelmintic. Administered in the form of an infusion for the expulsion of tapeworm (ineffective against hookworm, roundworm, whipworm).

Toxicity:
Irritant to mucous membrane; produces nausea, vomiting and colic in large doses.
