Summary
Zizyphus mistol (Rhamnaceae), also known locally as mistol, is a common tree in the dry forrests of Northern Argentina. Several parts of this species are used as medicinal and edible, although none of its popular uses have been validated to date. Some pharmacological studies in vivo suggest, however, that the seeds may contain chemoprotective agents against induced carcinogenesis.
