Western temperate Himalayas from Kashmir to Kumaon; common in Kashmir forests.
Action:
A mixture of flavonoids, isolated from the leaves, has shown potent antiperoxidative and oxygenradical scavenging properties. It exhibits very low toxicity and can be used as an alternative to the toxicsynthetic antioxidants used for thetreatment of free radical-mediatedinjuries. See also C. avellana
