Origin:
Western Himalayas and hilly regions of the western parts of Peninsular India, abundantly in Maharashtra.
Action:
The plant is the source of alkaloid scopolamine which is used as a pre anaesthetic in surgery and childbirth, in ophthalmology and for the prevention of motion sickness.
