Origin:
Deccan Peninsula; common in the forest areas of Western Ghats.
Action:
Root—appetizer, blood purifier, bacteriostatic.
Used as a substitute for Shveta Saarivaa (Hemidesmus indicus). Sold as Saarivaa in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The root powder is given to diabetics.
