Punjab, Upper Gangetic Plain, Assam, Western Ghats and Western Himalayas.
Action:
Astringent, haemostatic, antirheumatic, diuretic. Used for diarrhoea, kidney disorders, bronchitis and for bleeding piles, wounds, bruises.
Essential oil— used in bronchial catarrh and cystitis.

Folk medicinal uses
Said by Beckwith to be used as tea for babies. In America it has been used as a haemostatic, for diarrhoea and for dropsy. In Africa the Sutos employ it for skin diseases, sore throats and as a wash for sick children.
