PARTE UTILIZADA= Used part: Resina.
ACCIÓN FARMACOLÓGICA= Pharmacological action: Vulnerario (que cura llagas y heridas).
COMPOSICIÓN QUÍMICA= Chemical composition: The volatile components of the fresh leaves and stems of "mataojo" (P. salicifolia) were studied to contribute to their gas-chromatog. characterization. Steam distn. and static headspace anal. at 80degrees; were used. A packed column of Porapak Q, and a fused silica capillary column with methylsilicone as stationary phase, were employed for anal. by gas chromatog. The retention data corresponding to the volatile compds. were represented by means of chromatog. profiles, which would constitute a suitable way of differentiating leaves and stems of the same plant. The residue of the benzene ext. as well as the distillate obtained from the leaves had a definite histaminergic action, causing eye irritation and bronchial spasm in guinea pigs, arterial hypotension in rabbits, and a spasmodic action on guinea pig distal ileum; all these effects were counteracted by diphenhydramine-HCl.
ZONA GEOGRÁFICA= Geografical zone: S de Brasil, Paraguay, Uruguay y NE de Argentina.
