Throughout the plains of India, up to 1,500 m in the hills.

Action:

Plant—diuretic, anthelmintic, astringent, demulcent.

Leaves—used for toothache.

Seeds—mucilaginous, used for diarrhoea, leucorrhoea, menorrhagia and haemorrhoids.
