ACCIÓN FARMACOLÓGICA= Pharmacological action: Antitumoral.
COMPOSICIÓN QUÍMICA= Chemical composition: En toda la planta se han registrdo flavonoides: acacetina, velutina, tamarixetina, mikanina; flavononas: sakuranetina e iso-sakuratenina, una flavona la salvigenina y una chalcona la odoratina; triterpenoides B-amirina, lupeol, epoxilupeol y ácido anísico. Las hojas contienen triterpenos: b-amirina, b-y-y-sitosterol, lupeol y epoxilupeol. También taninos y azúcares . El aceite esencial de las hojas contiene derivados sesquiterpénicos: (+)-y (-)-eupatenol.
ZONA GEOGRÁFICA= Geografical zone: República Dominicana.
Stem: Among French Guiana Palikur, when the need arises for an emollient to use while extracting splinters, the stems and branches of this plant are crushed and combined with the wood-pulp of Cecropia obtusa and a seed of Theobroma cacao, kneaded in Carapa oil, and locally applied in a plaster.
Leaf: In Guyana, used in a tea for cleansing the blood.

Whole plant: Boiled with Lippia alba and Wedelia trilobata in a beverage used to treat head
colds and chest colds.
Toxicity of Whole plants for fish: Used as a fish poison by the French Guiana Galibi.
Stem: Decoction of bark used for washing sores and cuts.
Leaf: Crushed leaves are placed on festering sores to clean them. Used to treat snakebite in NW Guyana.
