= Used part: Las hojas y flores frescas.

ACCIÓN FARMACOLÓGICA= Pharmacological action: Astringente, aséptica, vulneraria y antiinflamatoria.

POSOLOGÍA= Posology: Inflamación de encias. Poner a calentar 50 g de hojas frescas en medio litro de agua. Dejar hervir durante 10 minutos. Dejar reposar durante 15 minutos y colar. Se aplica mediante enjuagues, de 4 a 6 veces al día. Estos enjuagues bucales fortalecen las encías y a la vez, sirven para cicatrizar heridas muy rápidamente.

COMPOSICIÓN QUÍMICA= Chemical composition: Contiene saponósidos, sustancias amargas (en las hojas); en la flor, materias antibióticas y una sustancia amarga. Los frutos (bayas) son tóxicos, y se cree que contienen también alcaloides tóxicas.

1) A method is described which utilizes solvent extn. and preparative TLC to isolate triacylglycerols from the seeds of the Genuine Honeysuckle (Lonicera caprifolium). Preparative liq. chromatog. in conjunction with gas chromatog. and HPLC with light-scattering detection were further used to characterize the pattern of mol. species of the triacylglycerols.

2) Besides sugars, such as mannose, glucose, galactose and sucrose, other important constituents identified in the leaves, seeds and fruits of Egyptian A. rosea included, in addn. to lower alcs., limonene, citral, phellandrene, a-terpenyl acetate, p-tolualdehyde, and b-sitosterol.
